No look back on 2017 would be complete without considering the Android apps that held our attention through the last year. Google has released a list of the very best apps in the Play Store last year, from the games that devoured our time to the practical apps that helped us manage money, track our health and even avoid parking tickets.
But out of all the apps in the Play Store, Google managed to pick two favorites to top the list:
- Socratic, a super-smart homework helper. This app doesn't just hand over the answers to homework problems: instead, it uses artificial intelligence to find explanations, videos and step-by-step instructions to help you or your child learn. It can help with over 100,000,000 homework questions about math, science, biology, chemistry, history, English and economics. This app is a game-changer for both parents and students — and, best of all, it's completely free.
- CATS: Crash Arena Turbo Stars ranks as the top game of the year. This brightly colored game lets you custom-build your own battle bot and duke it out to determine whose bot is best. And, of course, there are cats. With 55 million players, you won't run out of challenges as you fight your way to the World Championship. The game is free to play but does have ads and in-app purchases — so be sure your kids don't have your Google Play password before you start them on this addictive little game.
With so many apps on offer, though, it's impossible to leave the list at just two top apps. So if you're loading up a brand new Android device — or you're just looking for something new for your current phone or tablet — you should start by checking Google Play's top games and apps of 2017.
Looking towards our New Year's resolutions, Google's favorite daily helper apps may help you get a head-start on 2018 with apps for the most popular resolutions. Try Simple Habit Meditation for cutting down on stress, My Fitness by Jillian Michaels for getting in shape, and Clarity Money for tracking (and curtailing) your spending. And when you need to take a break from the hard work of sticking to your resolutions, try one of Google Play's most innovative games, like the zany Build a Bridge.
So head over to Google Play and get downloading.
