Great Breastfeeding Gear and Gadgets
You’d think that breastfeeding, one of the most natural, nourishing acts a mother can perform for her child, wouldn’t require more than a good nursing bra and, perhaps, a reliable breast pump. Ultimately, an understanding of a proper latch and healthy practices for nursing and pumping are paramount, but it is good to know that there are products that can make things a little less crazy. So, in honor of breastfeeding month, here are a few of my favorite techy breastfeeding gadgets.
Lansinoh Affinity Double Electric Pump
Many nursing moms develop a close relationship with their breast pumps, especially for those who work outside of the home or are away from baby for longer periods. Reliable, efficient and powerful are all qualities that I personally looked for in a pump the first time around. Many double pumps on the market can be hefty in price and weight. This pump is cost-efficient and reliable. It features adjustable settings and a let-down button that allows you to customize suction and cycle. The Affinity Double Electric Pump features an LCD screen and can run on batteries.

Kiinde Kozii
Necessity is the mother of invention, but in this case, it was the fathers. The Kiinde Kozii was created by two dads who needed to thaw breast milk for their newborns when their wives weren't available. This unique warmer is described as being as fast as steam and as safe as warm tap water. The appeal of this new product is that it's specifically tailored for breastmilk, warming frozen breastmilk without overheating it, so as not to jeopardize immune components or risk burning baby's delicate mouth.

Baby Tracker: Nursing
For moms and caregivers who need help with logging and tracking feedings, Baby Tracker: Nursing is an app that tracks nursing sessions with just a few clicks. The app helps log the length of time and the side you nursed on (or both), always noting which side you nursed on last. And for those nursing multiples, the Baby Tracker: Nursing provides multiple baby support (up to 6), with names and easy switching (slide your finger left or right). This app can sum up a full day of nursing times and session counts, which can be helpful for your doctor or lactation consultant.
