Holiday Travelers Get the Gift of Free Wi-Fi

by Alex Porter on December 20, 2011

Skype Wi-FiHoliday travel can be a huge pain, but one connection you won't miss this year is airport Wi-Fi. That's because from December 21st through December 27th, Skype will offer an hour of free wireless Internet service through Skype Wi-Fi at over 50 airports, listed here.

You'll need Skype account and a laptop or iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod touch) and Skype Wi-Fi, both of which are free. Once you're in the airport, launch the Skype app and sign in, enable Wi-Fi access and connect to a public hotspot. But be mindful that you're on a public network, so don't type in any passwords or credit card numbers. Once on, you're free to Skype loved ones and use the Web.

Happy travels!

Great tip! Hopefully will Skype have more “gifts” like this. I think the video quality is great, but not as good as “Facetime” with your iOS device.
