Make Amazon Returns to Your Nearest Kohl's Starting this Summer

by Elizabeth Harper on May 04, 2019

Amazon has a reasonable return policy on most items. Though the exact policy varies depending on who you’ve bought an item from, typically you can return things you’ve bought from Amazon within 30 days for a full refund. It sounds easy, but sending those items back can be a hassle. You have to find packaging — or tape the original packaging back together — and box it up before hauling it to FedEx or UPS to ship back. Once you send it, weeks could pass before you get your refund. And if you’re returning it because you simply decided you don’t want it, the cost of return shipping is probably on you, so that refund will be for less than you expect.

Amazon is pretty good about letting you try out items before you buy them. Amazon Prime members can take advantage of Prime Wardrobe, which lets you get up to eight items to try for a week before you pay for what you want, and return shipping is free. And many clothing items have free returns, but you have to double check. Some sellers don't offer free returns.

But soon, returning your items to Amazon will be easier, because the company has partnered with Kohl’s to accept returns at all Kohl’s retail locations. Amazon already allows returns at some Kohl’s locations — about 100 nationwide — but the new program will allow returns at every Kohl’s store. With locations across the continental United States, you’ll find a Kohl’s to return items to in most metropolitan areas.

The ability to drop returns off at Kohl’s could prove to be faster, easier, and cheaper way to return items to Amazon.

How to return Amazon purchases to Kohl’s

Once it becomes available, making a return at Kohl's will be quick to set up. Just like an ordinary return, you'll start by going to the Amazon Returns Center. Select “Return items” and find your item to see if it’s eligible for return.  If you can return it, just select “Kohl’s Dropoff” as the return method.

Then you just need to return your item to the nearest Kohl’s store. It doesn’t have to be packaged and there are no shipping fees. As long as you return the item within its return period, you’ll get a full refund.

Make returns starting this summer

While the new return program is due to start this summer, neither Amazon nor Kohl’s announced a specific start date. For now, just keep your eyes open for the “Kohl’s Dropoff” option when you make Amazon returns.
